2013 TOY

This year, 72 outstanding educators throughout the East Baton Rouge Parish School System were named their individual school's Teacher of the Year, 52 vied for one of three district 2013 Teacher of the Year awards and three of the best of the best walked away with the School System's titles.

During the current session of the Louisiana Legislature, Senate bills 563 and 299 were introduced. If successful, they would create an independent school system in the southeast part of the parish. This proposed new school system would be named the Southeast Baton Rouge Community School System (SCSS) and would break off from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) causing it irreparable harm. For instance, such action would mean EBRPSS would lose 10 schools located in that area.
