The spring semester is in full swing, but it's not too late to get enrolled in second eight week courses. Check out the academic calendar below to find out when you need to be registered to get started in March.
This month we bring you several educational funding opportunities including various scholarships for active duty, military spouse and military children. There is also important information about job fairs and hiring opportunities with a focus on transitioning military personnel.

Available Scholarships
Tillman Scholarship:
ELIGIBILITY
- Veteran and active duty military servicemembers
-
Of both pre- and post-9/11 service
-
From all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, including service in the National Guard and Reserve
- Spouses of active or veteran servicemembers
-
Including surviving spouses
- Servicemember or spouse seeking assistance to pursue an undergraduate (Bachelor's or above), graduate or post-graduate degree as a full-time student at a public or private, U.S.-based accredited institution
THE APPLICATION WILL CLOSE ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15 AT 11:59:59 PM PST.
Fisher House Military Child Scholarship:
The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created in recognition of the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community.
The applications are due by February 22, 2013.
National Military Family Association, Military Spouse Scholarship:
National Military Family Association scholarship funds are for military spouses only (active duty, retiree, Reserve, National Guard, and/or survivor). You must prove you are a military spouse by providing a copy of your marriage certificate AND one of the listed documents from the applicable category.
If selected for a scholarship, you must be able to enroll in your school or program and show proof to us by April 1, 2013. Otherwise, the funding will be given to another military spouse.
All applications are due by March 15, 2013.
VA ACME Scholarships now available!
VA ACME is giving away several $1,000 scholarships at their conference on March 28, 2013. Last year 13 scholarships were given away. There are five categories for scholarships: Active Duty, Drilling Reservist, or National Guard Member; Spouse of Active Duty, Reservist, National Guard Member, Veteran or Retiree; Child of Active Duty, Reservist, National Guard Member, Veteran or Retiree; Permanently Disabled Military Member, Family Member of Permanently Disabled Member or Family Member of Service Members Missing/Killed in Action (KIA); Veteran or Retiree of the Armed Forces working or residing in Virginia. Visit the website to download the scholarship applications, which are due February 4, 2013.

Funding a College Education - Upcoming Workshops
The Virginia Tidewater Consortium's Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) brings you a briefing that will focus on grants & loans from the federal government, state financial aid programs, surviving scholarship searches, and the overall application process.
The workshop is hosted by the Navy College Office and is open to all military personnel, retirees, family members, and other base employees/personnel. Normal military base access is required.This program includes information that will assist adult students opting to return to college later in life, rising high school JUNIORS & SENIORS, parents of all high school students, and others who may be facing the rising expenses of college in the very near future. Local military scholarship representatives always try to be on hand to provide information on their awards, and they do plan to stay afterwards for your specific questions

** Note: Students who wish to withdraw without academic penalty should contact a counselor to determine the appropriate procedure and date. Withdrawals through completion of sixty percent of a session will result in a Wgrade. After sixty percent of a session is completed, a withdrawal will result in a grade of F in a credit course or a grade of U in a developmental course, except under mitigating circumstances that must be documented by the instructor and approved by the academic dean.
Dynamic Session classes have unique refund and withdrawal dates. Please contact the Enrollment Services Office for procedures and dates.
