MILITARY CAREER ADVANCEMENT ACCOUNT (MyCAA) PROGRAM
Helping Military Spouses Attain Training and Education for Portable/ High Demand Careers.
The United States DoD's MyCAA Program provides eligible military spouses with up to $4,000 in financial assistance to train for portable, high-demand, high-growth careers. MyCAA pays for expenses such as secondary and post-secondary education and training programs, tuition, and licensing and credentialing fees. This includes associate degree programs, continuing education classes, national certification exams, and state certifications for teachers, medical professionals, and similar licensed professionals, many of which are available through TCC.
Portable careers are those that are in-demand and likely to provide job opportunities in most locations where military service members are stationed. A full list of targeted industries and occupations can be found at http://www.careeronestop.org/, a comprehensive source for employment information sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Eligible spouses who are ready to explore portable career options and develop a career goal and plan should establish a MyCAA Account by visiting the MyCAA Website and clicking on Create an Account. This is an easy, self-help process. Once the spouse profile information is provided, the Department of Defense (DoD) will verify MyCAA eligibility through the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
TCC is approved to provide education and training through MyCAA. The MyCAA program is open to all eligible spouses of active duty, National Guard, and Reserve Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine service members in pay grades E1-E5, W1-W2, and O1-O2.

In 2000 she enlisted in the US Navy and served as Religious Program Specialist, with deployments to the Persian Gulf in support of OEF/OIF amphibious combat operations.
In November 2003 she was honorably discharged from active-duty and went on to obtain a Practical Nursing Diploma from Medical Careers Institute.
