June 28, 2016 Finger Lakes Connected
We had just graduated college about a year prior. I had the job (in Chicago) and Sean was still looking. I helped him with his resume and we were wondering why he got no bites. REALLY wondering. Then late one night, he found the error. He burst into the bedroom and woke me up: How do you spell background? I answered how I always thought it was spelled (B-A-C-K-R-O-U-N-D).

Sorry, but I just never knew about the 'g' in the middle! Well, I guess you're never too old to learn new tricks, right? And if you have someone else do your resume, you should still check it over, correct? It's kind of like how many years later (last week) I relearned the appropriate way to use it's and its. Thank you to the two readers who wrote in to school me. It's (it is) nice to have followers but it's even better when they care enough to write in. So, the bird is alive and well. We hope its little legs may heal/develop quickly.  Maybe letting nature take its course was the right thing.

Mistakes are the catalysts to learning so maybe we should celebrate them more? Have a safe and Happy Independence Day holiday weekend!

VOLUNTEER HAIRSTYLISTS NEEDED!

Through the collaboration of many, including Jordan Health, Ontario Co Nowhere to go, and Canandaigua Churches in Action, our area is now able to offer free haircuts to those in need on a monthly basis. St. John's Episcopal Church has generously offered us a room to use and a time slot that coincides with Gleaners kitchen serving lunch! We are providing a wonderful service to many and we need more help. We are looking for volunteer stylists so we could offer more of a "walk-in" style. Please contact Christine Rader at Crader@frontiernet.net or Kate Bluett at Kbluett@JordanHealth.org if you are interested in getting involved with this amazing outreach program. Free haircuts will be the second Monday of each month from 10:30 till 1:30
