April 12, 2016 Finger Lakes Connected
Thank you for the overwhelming responses about prom. I'm feeling very grateful for the community we have developed together with this ENewsletter. Feeling connected to others is what makes life so enriching. Naturally, we have friends and family, but community creates a ripple effect of good vibrations all throughout. You don't have to be blood relatives or everyday friends to feel this natural wonder. Keep it going...pass it on! A smile, a positive thought, a kind act, heartfelt advice. All these things shared amongst strangers are what creates community. Thank you for your readership, support, and advice! I'm thankful for all of these things! Its been a great 7 years! Please mark your calendars for the celebration party below.....

HOST A PROFESSIONAL PLEIN AIR ARTIST!
2016 Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival at Canandaigua, NY
Festival Dates: June 7-12th

Have you ever wondered what the life of a professional outdoor artist is like?   Or how an artist can transform a moment into an amazing piece of art?

Click here to fill out and submit the Host Application Form at our website.

By opening your home and offering a guest room you not only help an artist offset some costs associated with participating in this year's festival - but you can make a new friend or two in the process.  Over the course of 5 days these artists want to share something quite magical with our community. They are those who live their dream to create. They follow in the footsteps of those chasing light and color since the early 19th century. This year we are asking our community to also embrace the storied tradition of welcoming accomplished, itinerant artists who charm the cultures they pay homage to in their paintings.

'Music Village' offers a night of varied, original music and dance

McGuire has chosen 11 works written over the last 20 years, though most are fairly recent. Selections cover a range of styles and idioms, including an instrumental composition combined with spoken word called "Prayer Machine;" a body-percussion piece called "Clapelgel's Cactus," and an upbeat, "faux-bluegrass" number called "Cracker Barrel Two-Step."
