April 5, 2016 Finger Lakes Connected
Calling all experienced parents of teenagers: HELP! I'm new at this. If my freshman daughter (14) gets asked to go to the junior prom, do we have to let her go? I suggested I chaperone the prom but she thinks I'll embarrass her. My husband made things worse by telling me what was in his head when he was 16. Guidance, please. What's wrong with me chaperoning? I'll be good. Unless, of course, there is good music. Then I'd probably break out in dance and indeed embarrass her....Feedback appreciated....

HOST A PROFESSIONAL PLEIN AIR ARTIST!
2016 Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival at Canandaigua, NY
Festival Dates: June 7-12th

Have you ever wondered what the life of a professional outdoor artist is like?   Or how an artist can transform a moment into an amazing piece of art?

Click here to fill out and submit the Host Application Form at our website.

By opening your home and offering a guest room you not only help an artist offset some costs associated with participating in this year's festival - but you can make a new friend or two in the process.  Over the course of 5 days these artists want to share something quite magical with our community. They are those who live their dream to create. They follow in the footsteps of those chasing light and color since the early 19th century. This year we are asking our community to also embrace the storied tradition of welcoming accomplished, itinerant artists who charm the cultures they pay homage to in their paintings.

'Music Village' offers a night of varied, original music and dance

Finger Lakes Community College professor David McGuire has gathered colleagues and friends to stage a performance of his original musical compositions combined with spoken word and dance on Friday, April 15.

"Music Village" begins at 7:30 p.m. in the main campus auditorium at 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. The event is free and open to the public.

Faculty from Hobart and Williams Smith Colleges and Nazareth College are collaborating on the event. Faculty and students from the FLCC culinary arts program will prepare a reception.

McGuire has chosen 11 works written over the last 20 years, though most are fairly recent. Selections cover a range of styles and idioms, including an instrumental composition combined with spoken word called "Prayer Machine;" a body-percussion piece called "Clapelgel's Cactus," and an upbeat, "faux-bluegrass" number called "Cracker Barrel Two-Step."

Probiotics - An Essential for Immune Health
What are Probiotics and how do they work? Probiotics are simply defined as naturally occurring, health enhancing microorganisms, consumed as a food component or dietary supplement.
Probiotics improve the healthy balance of beneficial cultures over the bad bacteria in the intestinal tract, and strengthen immune function.
Probiotics assist with digestive issues such as gastroenteritis, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Probiotics help correct any imbalance of intestinal flora, improves regularity and consistency of stool simply by interfering with the growth of harmful pathogens (toxins) that enter your small intestine before they take hold in your system and cause distress.
There are many types of Probiotics - gummy probiotics, capsules, pills and refrigerated pills - one that will meet your own particular needs.
Stop down to Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe and ask our knowledgeable staff if Probiotics will make a difference in your health and wellness.

Call (585) 396-9970 or stop in at 66 West Ave to talk to our knowledgeable staff today.
