Diabetes Care - Foot Care
If you have diabetes, you need to make sure that you have a daily diabetes care plan that you follow.
Foot Care - Check feet daily for redness and for sores or cuts that do not heal. Wash your feet with a mild soap, rinse with water and dry well. If you cannot see or reach your feet, ask someone to check them for you. Look for socks that fit well, without constricting cuffs, lumps or uncomfortable seams. You may want to ask your doctor if you need to consider diabetic shoes which are custom fitted by a certified diabetic shoe fitter.
Wound Care- if you have a wound, see your health care provider right away. Inspect and clean the wound daily and apply an antibiotic ointment if needed.
Skin Care - Skin can become dry and cracked which can lead to infection. Look for mild lotions that add moisture without heavy perfumes or alcohol.

We carry the Dr. Comfort line of diabetic socks and shoes. Check out how Dr. Comfort can make your life more comfortable. Stop in or call Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe and our team of pharmacists and certified shoe fitter will help you life live to the fullest. Call (585) 396-
9970 or stop in at 66 West Ave to talk to our knowledgeable staff today.
