FLCC offers Summer Jazz Recording Academy to High Schoolers
Applications are now being accepted for a four-day Jazz Recording Academy to be offered at Finger Lakes Community College this summer to the area's top high school instrumental and vocal musicians.
 
The first-ever Jazz Recording Academy will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from July 5 to 8. Each of the four days of instruction will include three hours of musical training and three hours of lessons in FLCC's new world-class music recording studios. Participant will leave with CDs of their work.
 
The selective program is open to students who will be entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2016. Participants should have higher-level music skills and be able to sight-read music and improvise.

Thompson Seeks Chaplain's Volunteers
As he recruits chaplain's volunteers to provide spiritual care within UR Medicine's Thompson Health, Manager of Spiritual Care Mark Henson will host an informational meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel just off the main lobby of Thompson Hospital at 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua. At Thompson, spirituality is defined in the broadest and most universal terms possible -- that which gives meaning or purpose and belonging or connection to each person. In this light, the health system's Spiritual Care program seeks to support each patient, resident, client and loved one in a way that is meaningful and helpful to him or her. Breast Cancer Support Group Meets Feb. 17
The Breast Cancer Support Group hosted by UR Medicine's Thompson Health will meet Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Breast Imaging Center, in Suite 103 at 195 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
Jennifer Klein, a certified holistic stress management instructor with a master's degree in Integrative Health, facilitates the group. Support persons and new members are welcome. There is no charge to attend.
