"THE EMERGING ARTISTS AND THEIR MENTORS - 2016"
The 11th Annual Studio II Exhibit, is a wonderful show featuring work done by students who took art classes during 2015. It will also feature work done by the artist/instructors who teach at Studio II. 
The exhibit will open with a reception at the gallery on Saturday, Jan. 16th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Please join us during the opening where you can meet many of the artists whose works will be on exhibit and for sale. 
Refreshments will be served during the opening reception on Saturday which is free and open to the public. The exhibit runs Jan 16th thru Feb. 27th.

Looking for a new career in 2016? Try these FLCC info sessions
  
Finger Lakes Community College will hold information sessions on two advanced manufacturing training programs with a high rate of job placement.
  
An information session on the six-month advanced manufacturing machinist program at ITT Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21, at 9 a.m. at the ITT Goulds Pumps facility at 240 Fall St. The class runs from March 21 to Sept. 16, weekdays from 4 to 8 p.m.
  
An information session on the 12-week mechatronic technology program is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 9 a.m. at the FLCC Victor Campus Center, 200 Victor Heights Parkway, off Route 251. The class runs Feb. 29 to May 20, weekdays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Thompson to Offer Class for Soon-to-Be Siblings
On Sunday, Feb. 14, UR Medicine's Thompson Hospital will offer a one-hour class for children who will soon have a baby brother or sister born at Thompson. Developed for 3- to 10-year-olds, this 4 p.m. class includes a tour of the hospital's Birthing Center, a "visit" with a newborn, a video about changes to expect, and practice sessions regarding how to hold and diaper a baby. In addition, parents will receive information about how to help further prepare a future sibling at home, before the baby's birth.  The cost for a parent and one child is $10. There is an additional $5 charge for each additional child. Although class is specifically designed for the child, parents are required to stay in attendance.  Space is limited. Get Back on Track with Diabetes Management
"Getting Back on Track" will be the topic during the January meeting of the Diabetes Support Group hosted by UR Medicine's Thompson Health. The meeting will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the RG&E Room on the lower level (Pines area) of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.

The Parkinsons Support Group of the Finger Lakes will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 27th 1pm at Wood Library (134 N. Main Street, Canandaigua). This month's speaker will be Michelle Burack, MD, Department of Neurology at University of Rochester.  Her topic will be "Advanced Treatments for Motor Fluctuations:  Rytary, Duopa, and Deep Brain Stimulation".  Her talk will be followed by refreshments and breakout groups for Parkinsons people and their caregivers.  For more info, contact Ellie (ellie7349@gmail.com or 585-313-9689).
