It finally looks and feels like winter. I forget what it was like to have to put on boots, look for gloves, and use the snow brush/scraper.  We've been pretty lucky so far. I like routine. It feels good to be back.

The 11th Annual Studio II Exhibit, is a wonderful show featuring work done by students who took art classes during 2015. It will also feature work done by the artist/instructors who teach at Studio II. 
The exhibit will open with a reception at the gallery on Saturday, Jan. 16th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Please join us during the opening where you can meet many of the artists whose works will be on exhibit and for sale. 
Refreshments will be served during the opening reception on Saturday which is free and open to the public. The exhibit runs from Jan 16th  and runs thru Feb. 27th.

The Parkinsons Support Group of the Finger Lakes will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 27th 1pm at Wood Library (134 N. Main Street, Canandaigua). Registration for the spring semester at Finger Lakes Community College is underway with opportunities to sign up for classes at four locations. New full- and part-time students pursuing a degree should start with the online application at www.flcc.edu/apply.  The application deadline is Jan. 15. Those planning to take one or two classes and not pursue a degree can register in person at the following locations:

Group for New Moms Meets Jan. 12
The First Time Around Group, hosted by UR Medicine's Thompson Health, meets Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the OB Classroom at Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St.
This educational and social gathering is for first-time mothers and their babies. Carrie Hartman, RN, BSN, and Courtney Phillips, RN, lactation consultant, will be available to answer questions
about breastfeeding and parenting. This month, the topic is "Babies Change Everything: Coping with the Change."
Meetings are open to all new moms, regardless of where the baby was born. No RSVP is required.

Gentle Yoga Series Starts Jan. 6
Get a total body-mind workout during a Gentle Yoga series beginning Wed, Jan. 6, at UR Medicine's F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua. Instructed by Rick Lynch of the Finger Lakes Yoga Center, classes will be held every Wednesday from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center on the hospital's ground floor. The last day of the series will be Feb. 24. Gentle Yoga  is designed to improve posture, strength and flexibility. No experience is necessary, nor is flexibility required to participate in the program. Pre-registration is required and the cost for the 8-week series is $80.
