December 22, 2015 Finger Lakes Connected ENewsletter
In the spirit of the holidays, I would like to share some information about a family from our community who is in need of support. Michelle Woodworth is a friend, neighbor and tenant of mine who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer November '14 and it has now metastasized to her diaphragm. This has developed so swiftly and their family is in great need of help. She is an amazing woman who is married with four children, worked full time, and was very active with Boy Scout Troop 37 and New Covenant Baptist Church. Her oldest child graduated from CA last year, two are currently at CA and one is in Middle School.

It is not my normal practice to reach out with these requests, but this family deserves some cheer and tidings of comfort and joy. It is presumed that this sweet woman will choose to stay at home for the duration of her life, which is nearing the end. Please email me if you'd like to be put on the dinner preparation rotation or if you'd like their address to send something. Any assistance you could offer to this humble family would be so deeply appreciated. They are so very grateful.

Merry Christmas,

FLCC graduates one mechatronics class, opens another

Zach Telga was in the car on his way to a ceremony to celebrate his graduation from the Finger Lakes Community College mechatronic technology training program when his cell phone rang.

The call was from a prospective employer who was so eager to talk about job opportunities for Telga that an interview was set up for that very afternoon, Monday, Dec. 14. It would have to wait, of course, until Telga received his completion certificate, posed for photos and enjoyed a slice of cake with his supporters in the FLCC Victor Campus Center ceremony.

FLCC graduates like Telga are proof of the demand for skilled workers in the regional manufacturing industry. The 12-week program he completed teaches basic electrical and mechanical fundamentals common to many companies and provides training in industry certifications in soldering and safety.

The next class starts in February. For more information, contact Andrea Badger at (585) 785-1906 or email to Andrea.Badger@flcc.edu.
