November 24, 2015 CC ENewsletter

This year I am NOT hosting Thanksgiving, which is a mixed blessing. So, I don't have to make the house look presentable for the gathering (which is a bigger deal than cooking a turkey by the way), but I also have to relinquish control on something that is hard to let go of. When I AM hosting, I like to ask each person around the table to say what they're thankful for. Call me crazy, but that does it for me. I'm just thankful those around me let me be ME! Happy Thanksgiving!
Blue Skies,
Donna Bennett

Mobility Aids

Mobility Aids provide help to those of us who need assistance in getting around.  Last week we talked about canes and another  option is using walkers and rollators.  Standard walkers don't have wheels while rollators have 4 wheels, a storage basket and fixed seat or flip down seat. Both can be folded and are easy to transport.  Both are height adjustable so always check to make sure that yours is suited to your height.  When using either of these make sure you are able to use both arms. When using a walker or rollator make sure that you stand with your feet in the middle of the walker holding the grips. Use good posture and don't lean forward. Move the walker forward until the walker's back legs are even with your toes. Step your weaker leg forward into the middle of the walker and then step your stronger leg into the middle of your walker. If you think a walker or rollator can make a difference in your mobility stop into Canandaigua The Medicine Shoppe and let our knowledgeable staff help you enjoy life to the fullest.
