Did anyone stay up to see the lunar eclipse and the red moon that followed? Here is a great photo taken by Steve Chesler Photography. It was taken from his cell phone which amazes me but maybe the professionals just try harder because I didn't even attempt for a pic on my IPhone. I just recognized it as something for the naked eye to take in and left it at that. Beautiful picture. It just looked so surreal, almost suspended up there after the eclipse.  It was just a glowing ball hanging proudly in the clear, dark sky. Thursday is the first day of October already. Enjoy!

30 minute lesson. Greater Canandaigua Civic Center, 250 N. Bloomfield Road, Canandaigua, NY
 
Introduce your 18 month old - 4 year old to skating in a fun way!  Kids get a chance to play on the ice.  This great beginning ice skating program serves the needs of itty bitty learner to skaters.
 
Costs for the special 6-week program is $45 per skater plus $14 annual U.S. Figure Skating registration.  Skates may be rented at the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center for $3/a pair.
 
The program is being taught by Pamela Warren, Professional Skating Association Masters-rated coach, and other US Figure Skating instructors. Skaters should wear warm, comfortable clothing, including loose-fitting pants, sweaters, hats, and gloves. Helmets are highly recommended, and are available free of charge. Ontario County Historical Society 2015 Fall Foliage Trail - Stops Shops and Photo Ops! Get the Map! The Ontario County Historical Society Fall Foliage Trail is a new twist on the organization's annual fundraiser. In exchange for a $20 donation, guests will receivea map, information and admission for 4 to travel the trail. For the entire month of October 2015, the trail includes historical stops with tours, local shops with specials and scenic outlooks for taking photos to participate in the photo contest. October 17 is Community Day with special tours at select stops. FLCC series on 'It's Your Brain' open to public
 
A Finger Lakes Community College Activities Day series on Tuesday, Oct. 6, will take a wide view of brain health and disorders, including Alzheimer's disease.
                                                          
The series, called "It's Your Brain," is part of the college's effort to promote awareness of Alzheimer's disease in the two weeks leading up to the Walk to End Alzehimer's in Canandaigua on Oct. 17. The series is part of Activities Day at the college, a day for off-campus and hands-on activities, lectures and community service.
 
Presentation topics include the myths of aging, traumatic brain injury and veterans, athletes and concussions, and living well with a psychological disorder.
 
All events are free and open to the public at the main campus, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua.

UR Medicine's Thompson Health, which began offering flu clinics earlier this month, has two more scheduled:

Administered to those 9 and older at this clinic, the 2015-16 vaccine provides protection against two type B flu viruses and two type A, including H3N2 and H1N1. The self-pay cost is $25 (cash, check, MasterCard or Visa). As a courtesy, Thompson will bill Medicare, MVP products, BlueCross BlueShield products and commercial insurances. Educational Program on Joint Replacement Oct. 7
Planning a hip or knee replacement? UR Medicine's Thompson Health offers a free, monthly group education program regarding total joint replacements and the next one is set for Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Thompson Hospital's Constellation Center for Health and Healing. Nancy Buerman, clinical coordinator of physical therapy at Thompson, facilitates this program, covering topics such as getting your home ready, beginning an exercise program and more.
