June 16, 2015 Canandaigua Connected ENewsletter

What is your favorite story (or memory) about your Dad? I have many because my father was a character. But, my favorite goes back to my softball days. I always swung at the first pitch and that one was a perfect one to rip. I ran the bases in anticipation of my home run but the other team had an outfielder with another plan. She was at the wall, jumped up, and caught that ball. I remember hearing in the distance a very familiar voice yelling, "WHAT A CATCH!!!"

Dear old Dad. I miss him. A lot. Too bad he isn't around now so we could replay that scene and I could give him a hard time for rooting for the other team. But, he was like that. He was just a happy-go-lucky guy. There were no opponents - there was just the shared love of the game. Oh, and he was a big fan of the other game called Life, too. If you think about it, there shouldn't be opponents in that game, either.  He passed on this day, his birthday, in 2004 - the year we moved back home so the (then, two) kiddos could get to know grandparents and cousins better. Celebrate Life (and Dad) this week!

Make sure you keep your bones healthy. As people get older, many find that they have Osteoporosis - a progressive, chronic disease literally meaning "porous bones". This increases the risk of fracture, particularly in the spine, wrists and hips due to a decrease in bone strength. This is especially common in post-menopausal women. When you talk with your doctor, he or she may recommend Calcium and Vitamin D Supplements.  Stop by The MedicineShoppe and talk to our knowledgeable Pharmacy staff about the right Calcium and Vitamin D for your particular health needs. Mention you saw this on Canandaigua Connected and get 20% off any Calcium or  Vitamin D product in the store!
