May 5, 2015 Canandaigua Connected ENewsletter

I've tried everything. I have a teenage daughter who just doesn't turn off the lights in her room. I asked nicely, I nagged, I charged her each time. Nothing worked. Then I got smart.....

13 Year Old: Mom, I need Converse sneakers.

Me: Need or want?

13 Year Old: Need. They look really cool and I don't have any.

Me: Ok, that is a want but you can get them if you can turn your lights off when you leave your room for ten days straight. I'll keep the Converses until Day 10. If you forget, we'll start over with Day 1.

13 Year Old: MOM!!!! That is ridiculous!! There is no way I can do that!

So, here we are on Day 9. She sees the box every day as a reminder. How long does it take to instill a habit? I'm hoping ten days because miraculously it is working! Do something you thought you couldn't do this week...do it for Mom!  Enjoy this week's CC!

Aches and Pains? We all have them after doing spring cleanup or being more active as the weather is breaking.

An over-the-counter solution to the aches and pains is Biofreeze. It is the # 1 used and recommended pain reliever by hands-on healthcare professionals in the United States.  Biofreeze products help break this pain cycle, by relieving pain through a method known as "Gate Control," or"gating." In the gating process, menthol acts to stimulate specific sensory receptors in the skin, thereby blocking other receptors from sending pain signals to the brain. Biofreeze products provide temporary relief from minor aches and pains of sore muscles and joints associated with simple backache, arthritis, bruises, strains and sprains.

Stop into Canandaigua the Medicine Shoppe (66 West Ave) and purchase some today.
