Office for the Aging Basic Computer Classes. Tuesdays, March 10, 17, 24, 31 / 10:30 AM

Wood Library has partnered with the Ontario County Office for the Aging to bring another four week series of basic computer classes for Ontario County residents ages 60 and over. Classes will be held Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM during the month of March.

Does your preschooler love to dance? Come and bop till you drop at our Bibliobop interactive dance program! One hour of non-stop dancing and singing fun!

 

Library Fort Night. Friday March 13, / 6:00-7:00 PM

After a snack of pizza, find a cozy spot and construct a reading fort with your sheets, blankets, pillows, and cushions - and don't forget to bring a flashlight! You can use chairs, tables or shelves to support your structure. Then we'll turn out the lights so you can read your favorite books together just like you're camping out! All children must be accompanied by a parent.

FLCC 'Caught on Camera' talk reveals wildlife habits

 

A member of Finger Lakes Community College's conservation faculty will share the findings of a trail camera study during a free community talk scheduled for Tuesday, March 10.

 

Nadia Harvieux, conservation educator at FLCC's Muller Field Station, will lead the 7 p.m. talk called "Caught on Camera."  It will be open to the public and held at the field station, which is located at 6455 County Road 36.

Lymphedema Support Group Forms at Thompson

UR Medicine's Thompson Health is now offering a Lymphedema Support Group, and the group will hold its first quarterly meeting on Tuesday, March 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Constellation Center for Health and Healing at Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.

Facilitated by Occupational Therapist and lymphedema specialist Angela Kiklowicz of Thompson's Rehabilitation Services Department, this new group wel­comes all looking for support in dealing with all types of lymphedema. At the March 17 meeting, speaker Katie Dixon will share her experience of having a lymph node transplant in December 2014.  RSVPs are not required. For more information, call (585) 396-6055.

 

Better Breathers to Hear from Dr. Weis

The Better Breathers Club will meet on Friday, March 13, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the RG&E Room, M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua. Sponsored by the Respiratory Therapy Department at UR Medicine's Thompson Hospital, the Better Breathers Club meets monthly to help individuals with lung disease or breathing difficulties improve their quality of life through discussions, education and behavioral modifications.  This month, Justin Weis, MD, will present "Fundamentals of Inhaled Medication - Action Where You Want It." Dr. Weis, a pulmonologist, is interim director of Pulmonary and Critical Care for Thompson Health. There is no cost to attend and no RSVP is required. Call (585) 396-6177.
