Youngest Child: Mom, What year were you born?

Me (on guard): Why, who is asking?

Child: I am. This macaroni and cheese box says they've been around since 1889 and I was just wondering....

Me (cutting youngest child off, even remembering speech therapist who came to house when child was quite young saying that cutting them off may lead to stuttering): Rachel, that is over a CENTURY ago. In fact, here do this math problem. What is the year 2015 minus the year 1889?

Child: 126. Hmmm there has to be something wrong then....

Me: Thank God. I was beginning to wonder how you could possibly think I could have been around then.

Child (looking at box, more closely): Yup, you're right. I found my mistake. The box says "since 1989". I cannot believe I thought they would've had Mac n Cheese invented in 1889!

Sometimes, you just have to laugh...Enjoy the moments. Even the ones that make you cringe.

The culinary arts program at Finger Lakes Community College has set dates for spring semester Dinner at Julia restaurant nights, which offer low-cost, five-course fine dining to the community at the main campus in Canandaigua.

Dates for the spring semester are Feb. 27, March 6, March 27, April 3, April 17, and April 24. Reservations can be made for arrival times between 5:30 and 7 p.m. by calling (585) 785-1476. The cost is $35 per person and includes tax and tip.

GENTLE YOGA BEGINS AT THOMPSON in MARCH

Get a total body-mind workout at Gentle Yoga classes every Wednesday, March 4 through April 22, with Rick Lynch of the Finger Lakes Yoga Center in Canandaigua. Classes are held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center at UR Medicine's F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
