 The offices of Literacy Volunteers of Ontario-Yates are abuzz with planning for its annual Adult Spelling Bee, an afternoon of good-natured fun and competition. The 13th annual bee kicks off at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Geneva High School Auditorium.Organizers are looking for teams, sponsors and other donors, as well as spectators to cheer the spellers on. This is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year. Registration is $300 per team, and all proceeds go toward helping people in your community better their lives through greater literacy. If you can't spell worth a darn or just don't want to take the chance, please consider having your business sponsor a team of tutors, students or other volunteers. BEE the first to sign up! Saturday morning seminar at FLCC offers advice for online marketing, sales
Experts in online marketing and sales will offer advice at an Entrepreneur Solutions seminar for current and future business owners on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua.
The event will feature speakers Renée Frazier, CEO and principal officer of Marketing A La Renée in Rochester, and Edward A. Hanchett, executive vice president of equaTEK Interactive in Victor.

Bowl for the Cure Set For Feb. 6 & 7
The Canandaigua USBC Bowling Association will host the 7th annual Bowl for the Cure® on the evening of Friday, Feb. 6, and the afternoon of Saturday, Feb. 7, at Roseland Bowl, 4357 Recreation Drive, Canandaigua. Proceeds benefit the Breast Health Patient Navigation Program at UR Medicine's Thompson Health and Susan G. Komen®. By collecting a minimum $25 donation, each participant may bowl three games at no charge, with shoe rental and a commemorative T-shirt. Individuals may form four- or five-person teams to compete in the Corporate Night Challenge on Friday, Feb. 6, with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday is for families, with registration beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Entertainment will be provided and prizes will be awarded throughout the event. Call Jack Moran at Roseland Bowl, (585) 394-5050, for more information.
Diabetes Support Group Meets Wednesday
The Diabetes Support Group hosted by UR Medicine's Thompson Health will meet Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua. This group, for people with Type 2 diabetes and their families, provides opportunities for learning, sharing and support. Jane Hallstead, RN,MSN, CDE, facilitates the group.
