Sept 23, 2014 Canandaigua Connected ENewsletter

I personally love Autumn and much prefer that word to Fall, which to me signifies giving up or an ending of sorts.  Autumn offers a reflection into things to come with the pleasant passing of one warm season to a cooler, brisker one exploding with colorful energy.  It always seems that this time of year causes me to look within and see how I can improve myself, my family, and the community that I love to be a part of. Enjoy this week's CC!

Free Naples Open Studio Trail Art Event

October 4-5, 2014

10 am -5 pm

Now in its 13th year, the Naples Open Studio Trail is scheduled for the first weekend of every October. This year, twenty artists in the Canandaigua/Honeoye area open their studios; you can stop by all them or only those that strike a particular fancy, and many of them conduct captivating demonstrations. They work in oils, glass, ceramics, metal, wood, textiles, and leather, and create paintings, sculpture, wearables, furniture, sculpture, jewelry, housewares, etc. These artists typically sell their wares in galleries and craft fairs; during the Trail, purchases and commissions can be made directly with the artist.

The Canandaigua Primary-Elementary will be hosting its first Screen Free Challenge this fall Oct 6-10. All students, faculty, and their families are encouraged to turn off all leisure related "screen time" and get active or do something else that you love! Screen time describes anything where you are sitting in front of a screen (tv, iPad, smartphones, video games, etc). To celebrate all those that gave this challenge a try-those who completed one day to those who completed the whole week without screens-we are partnering with the YMCA to host a Screen Free Family Fun night on Fri, Oct 17. Local businesses have been so generous to give donations as prizes for those who have given the Screen Free Week a try. The more days a student or faculty member is screen free, the more chances they will have to win a phenomenal prize!  So if your student or family member is a part of the Canandaigua Primary-Elementary family, join them in this healthy break from screens!

If you would like more information about this event, please call Alissa Clark at the Canandaigua Primary-Elementary at 396-3900 ext 6328 or email.
