Today, I have a teenager. Her birthday wish is the same as the last two years - spend the whole day alone with me at the mall. You know how I feel about this. Exactly one year ago, I somehow got locked into the changing room at Justice when she went to get a different size. First, I felt the sweat. Then, I felt myself hyperventilating and heard myself yell. "Come quick, Cady! I'm stuck in here! Help!" After proclaiming her utter embarrassment, she did rescue me but insisted the door wasn't locked. I don't know - two sides to every story. The good news is, I think the incident got Justice taken off today's 10am-4pm (30 minute-intervalled) itinerary of each store and food/dessert stop. She probably thinks they'll remember me at Justice. Or maybe Justice isn't cool once you hit teenager status? Either way, it's one less stop. I know, I know...I can hear you out there saying, "My teenager doesn't want to hang with me. Enjoy it! She'll be in college before you know it!"
I'm sure I will rise to the occasion. I remember being a teenager working at the mall at Thom McCann Shoe Store across from Spencers. Ringing a bell for anyone? I'll try to put myself in her "shoes" and be giddy about each store and moment. But, this time, I'll wait OUTSIDE the changing rooms!

Drop-In Drama Camp for Teens

CLIFTON SPRINGS, NY - The Cancer Services Program of Ontario, Seneca and Yates Counties (CSP) provides free screenings for colorectal, cervical and breast cancers for eligible men and women with little or no health insurance. The CSP is grant funded by the New York State Department of Heath. Clifton Springs Hospital& Clinic is the grant holder of this Program for all three counties. Screenings are available by many providers throughout Ontario , Seneca and Yates Counties . Men and Women age 50 and older may be eligible for annual at-home colorectal cancer screening kits, Women age 40 and older may be eligible for Pap and Pelvic exams; Mammograms and Clinical Breast Exams are provided for eligible women age 40 and older and men with confirmed breast symptoms. Calling all FLCC alumni for basketball tournament
Finger Lakes Community College will hold a 5-on-5 alumni basketball tournament on Sunday, Sept. 28, in the Putt Moore Court on the main campus.
The first-ever tournament is open to all alumni - not just former members of the FLCC Lakers men's and women's basketball teams. Registration costs $20 per player and includes a shirt and reception following the tournament. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Sept. 12.
The event's aim is to support the athletics department and build connections among area alumni. Check-in is at 10 a.m., with the tournament beginning at about 11 a.m. in the gymnasium at 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. Participants and guests should park in the lot closest to the gym, behind the college.

Do you know a great kid that has what it takes to make it big in business? YEA! may be just the thing to get them up and running. The Canandaigua Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) class teaches students between 11 and 18 years old how to start and run their own business, or non-profit organization. The class meets weekly and will be offered to Canandaigua School District students (home school and other surrounding district children welcome too) during the 2014/2015 school year from November through May.
