While there are roses blooming all season long at Sonnenberg Gardens, Rose Week marks the peak bloom period of the Rose Garden that has more than 2,500 red, white, and pink rose bushes. The blooms are a treat for the eyes, nose, and soul!

The Canandaigua Cheerleading Booster Club presents its 1st Annual Golf Tournament Birdies & Bogeys for the BRAVES on Saturday, June 14. The tournament will be held at Centerpointe Golf Club in Canandaigua, NY. The price to participate is $80 per player/$320 per team if you register by May 15th. After May 15th, the price goes to $90 per player/$360 per team and registration is due by May 31st. The price includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, lunch, and a buffet dinner. There will be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction during the dinner. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Canandaigua Cheerleading Program.

 Finger Lakes Plein Air is seeking highly motivated and friendly volunteers for an exciting Plein Air "outdoor painting" competition & festival held in Canandaigua. Volunteer tasks include passing out posters and rack cards prior to the festival dates, helping during the artist registration and check in, staging events, serving food and  at events, hanging paintings, answering questions about the festival at the information center, greeting visitors, exhibition set up/take down, data entry, interacting with visitors at the exhibition, processing sales, clean up after the exhibition and "anything where you need me".  Other volunteers will comprise street teams that help with the Saturday Quick Draw and the Community Paint Out!

Partnership between City and Town of Canandaigua

Between 1-4 PM on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month, City of Canandaigua residents and property owners may utilize the transfer facility located in the Town of Canandaigua to dispose of bulk refuse and recycling. Proof of residency or property ownership is required at facility - no contractors.

Transfer Facility Payments Cards are required to be purchased at City Hall or DPW during regular work hours. Payment will not be accepted at the transfer station.
 

 

 

Rose Walk Coming Up June 14 at Sonnenberg

Thompson Health's annual Rose Walk will take place Saturday, June 14, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park, 151 Charlotte St. in Canandaigua. For a minimum donation of $10, participants are invited to walk a 1- or 2-mile route through historic Canandaigua and enjoy refreshments, free admission to the gardens and more. The first 100 walkers with at least $25 in donations receive a free Rose Walk T-shirt. Proceeds benefit the Fralick Cardiac Rehabilitation Center Patient Scholarship Fund at Thompson Hospital. Thompson Hosts Sleep Solutions Group June 11

The Sleep Solutions Support Group - which helps individuals manage their sleep apnea - will meet on Wednesday, June 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Thompson Health Sleep Disorders Center. There is no cost to attend and family members are welcome.

    The Finger Lakes Community College Alumni Association recognized the following outstanding alumni with a ceremony on May 16, the evening before commencement.

    • Michael T. Johnson '91 of Baton Rouge, La. received the Outstanding Art Alumni Achievement Award. 
    • David A. Hutchings '80 of Canandaigua received the Outstanding Conservation Alumni Achievement Award. 
    • Scott A. Leclerc '10 of Rochester received the Outstanding Horticulture Alumni Achievement Award. 
    • Bailey E. Smith and Paige M. Smith '13, twins from Honeoye Falls, were named the FLCC Outstanding Scholar Athletes for the 2012-13 academic year. 
    • Kylene D. Abraham '82 of Bellona received the Outstanding Nursing Alumni Achievement Award. 
    • Michael L. Aikey '70 of Albany received the Outstanding Humanities Alumni Achievement Award. 
    • Wayne F. Williams of Newark received the CCFL/FLCC Exceptional Service Award.
