May 6, 2014 Canandaigua Connected ENewsletter

My daughter must've been switched at birth. Not only does she enjoy cooking and baking, but she accosted me at the worst possible time to start a garden - with me? I must remember to tell her that, more often than not in life, the delivery matters more than what you're asking for. I was gone all day Sunday, couldn't wait to come home and relax, and she pounces on me at the doorway like Tigger. So, the timing was bad AND I know NOTHING AT ALL about gardening. The sight of a saddened Tigger-type, however, is truly too much for anyone to bear - especially a fellow Tigger. So, we wrote out a (tentative) list, embarked to Country Max, and found a very nice employee who immediately was recruited as our personal shopping assistant. He had no idea what he was getting into and, truthfully, I wish he made commission or that I gave him a tip. Strawberries and tomatoes are planted and next week we will go back for cukes and kale. Enjoy your mother this week - they do things for you they had no intention of doing, just to see you smile. Moms, enjoy the kiddos, too. They help get you out of your comfort zone to really live.
Blue skies, Donna Bennett
