March 25, 2013 Canandaigua Connected ENewsletter

I'm not sure what possessed me to clean out my closet but I decided to usher in the spring colored clothes and pack away the winter blacks, browns, and blahs. It took forever because I have this problem that very few people know about: I can't for the life of me get rid of things I should say goodbye to. College was a long time ago. Yet, I still have a skirt I bought my senior year that I just may want to wear someday. A friend coached me to put those type things in a box and store it in the attic. If I don't have to go up there, then I'll release the box after 6 months. She actually said 2 months, but I know me. I filled up the box and this might just work. The only problem now is I have bright pastel tanks and cute capris w sandals to wear and it's still snowing. In like a lion, out like a lion???

Blue skies, Donna Bennett

Stymied by the Flood Insurance Requirement?
Saturday, March 29, 10:15 AM-11:30 AM
Wood Library, 134 N Main St, Canandaigua
Are you struggling to navigate the National Flood Insurance Program?  Are you wondering why you have to purchase flood insurance for your property but your neighbor does not?  Are you concerned about rising premiums for flood insurance?  Do you have experience obtaining an elevation certificate for your property?  Have you been able to reduce the risk of flooding on your property?  Have you tried to sell your property only to find that the flood insurance requirement has kept prospective buyers away?  The City's Environmental Committee wants to hear from you.  Council members Maria Bucci & Bill Taylor will host an info gathering session for city property owners who are required to buy flood insurance as a condition of their mortgage.  We are trying to determine the scope of this problem in the city and are looking at ways to assist property owners with this issue.  For more info, email Maria Bucci.
