Charter School in Canandaigua?
A group of parents, former educators, and community leaders will be applying through the SUNY Trustees for a charter school (as a free public school choice option) in our area. We are actively seeking your comments, responses and feedback so please email or call us at (585)298-0116.
The Canandaigua Classical Charter School will be located in Canandaigua and is expected to open enrollment in the Fall of 2015. Students can enroll from Canandaigua, Naples, Bloomfield, Manchester, Victor, Gorham and Farmington, NY. In the first year, we expect to have 1-2 classes per grade and start as K-6 with plans for expansion each subsequent year to be a K-12 school in 2020.
The mission of Canandaigua Classical Charter School is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a rigorous, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue.
A few key components of the curriculum:
(1) Content-rich traditional approach to the study of history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts;
(2) Acknowledgement of objective standards of correctness, logic, beauty, weightiness, and truth intrinsic to liberal arts, mathematics and sciences
* A partnership through Hillsdale College Charter School Initiative*
