HWS Speaker Series: Beyond the Fracking Wars
Tuesday Jan 21, 7:00 PM
Professor Tom Drennen (Economics and Environmental Studies) and Professor Beth Kinne (Environmental Studies). Most of us use natural gas every day. We heat our homes and water for baths and showers with natural gas. A significant portion of our electricity is generated from natural gas. And yet, despite how important it is to our daily comfort and that fracking has led to sharply lower costs for this comfort, there are many questions and concerns about the origins and long term environmental, health, and social impacts of this natural gas. Professors Drennen and Kinne will review the potential issues, conflicts, and processes associated with the ever changing and controversial world of unconventional shale gas resources.
