Tell us a little bit about your company?
I am one of 53 full time employees at Marketing Systems Group. We are a 26 year old software development company specializing in innovative solutions (and the best support) for the market research industry.
We offer three solutions;
(1) We are a full service sample provider with our GENESYS product offering RDD, cellular, alternative provider and address based lists, GIS services and screening services.
(2) We bring process improvement and efficiencies to the call center environment with our PRO-T-S predictive dialer which seamlessly integrates with many of the leading CATI data collection platforms.
3) Our ARCS Panel Management platform streamlines the qualitative research process and delivers efficiencies for our clients who manage or want to build a panel, collect data via our built in screener / IVR tool and automate the recruiting and reporting process (in one platform).
How did you get involved with Market Research?
I was in the wireless business for 22 years working for some of the largest companies in the industry. It was time for a change; I wanted a new challenge, explore a new industry and work for a much smaller company.
We became friendly with a family 15 + years ago when our children went to the same preschool. This person was always upbeat and LOVED his job and had nothing but positive things to say about where he worked. When I started seriously looking to make a very big move ....my friend (now a peer) said why don't you come and speak with my company. We are growing and have a need for a salesperson on the technology side. I never even knew that market research existed prior to MSG.
I have responsibility for global business development for our technology (ARCS and PRO-T-S) solutions.
I wish I would have found market research years ago!
Why did you join the MRA?
I decided that the best way to ensure my success in this industry was to learn from others and surround myself with the movers and shakers in the local market research community. I like to roll up my sleeves and get involved! I was impressed with the PMRA's vision and goals. I especially like that our local Philadelphia chapter gives back with scholarships and other planned community assistance initiatives.
Where would you recommend MRA national holds one of the annual conferences?
I understand that MRA national draws attendees from across the country and around the globe. My feeling is that we should try to hold the annual events in different locations (Sorry Chicago). I would like to suggest Nashville, Washington DC, Boston, Austin, Portland, San Diego or Denver. Feeling a little "outside the box" today....Jamaica anyone?
What is your favorite Philadelphia area/activity?
I like anything that has to do with sporting events and eating. My family is HUGE Philadelphia Flyers fans...we have been known to travel to other cities wearing our colors and supporting our home team. We can also be found attending all Philly sports teams or watching our sons, nieces and nephews play different sports. The food scene in Philly is OUTRAGEOUS.....my favorite restaurant this week is Buddakan, Ralph's, Fogo de chau, Tony Lukes, Old Homestead and Chef Vola (down the shore).
What are your hobbies?
I love travelling, playing hockey, racquetball, riding my motorcycle, golf, fishing, barbequing, coaching my son's teams, taking our dog for a walk, working at MSG and hanging around with my family and friends. Based on my comment above...I also have to add eating.
