Greetings!  I pray your summer has had a good start and that you are enjoying this time of year.   

So the last week has been an emotional roller coaster ride for all of America. I have seen people express good & bad, joy & sorrow, redemption & salvation. Several decisions were made by SCOTUS to uphold Obamacare as well as allowing gay people to marry in all 50 states. This does indeed have an affect on me as a gay American. I now will be able marry my partner Paul and receive the rights of marriage that Americans have always had.

Freedom is such a wonderful privilege in this country.  I am proud to be an American because it has given me the opportunities to be who I am today.  It's also a country that was founded on the beliefs of freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom of thought. It seems that everyone is very emotional and "on edge" about what's going on in our world as it relates to "freedom". However, this is what America is about.

If the decisions made by SCOTUS are affecting you personally, if you feel your "religious liberty" has been affected, then I feel you should look inwardly at yourself and ask why? What I do or what anybody else does for that matter should have no affect on your relationship with the Divine. It should hold no bearing on your spiritual walk. If it does, then perhaps you might want to re-examine your spiritual journey. As long as you have that soul to soul connection with whoever you choose as your redeemer, my actions or anyone else' should have no bearing on that. In my opinion, what this is really about is a group of people LOSING POWER over another group of people. It's a shame that power and control are part of some people's spiritual experience. Perhaps there is a lesson there. It's not for us to judge but only make opinions.

We have the ability to voice our opinions and be vocal about what we believe.  It is our "birth right".  I also respect other people's opinions of what they believe as well, but lately, it seems we have had so much anger injected into our feelings.  I have very dear friends and family that differ in opinion and I respect their beliefs.  I feel we should look at each other on a spiritual level and see within ourselves and others the journey we are on as we experience materiality on this earth plane and how each one's journey has had an effect on one's beliefs.  It is my opinion that if someone tells another that they should believe in a particular way, we are imprisoning their mind.  When a mind is imprisoned the spirit dies and when this happens there is no reason to live. So as we get ready to celebrate the freedom we have in this country, my challenge to you this month is to be open to others beliefs.  These past few years, I have grown to appreciate different spiritual beliefs and paths and have learned so much from them.  Exercise your freedom to explore and you just may be surprised by what you see and learn and how this can have an impact on your soul.
