Welcome to
The Morning Star Update!

I hope that you have been enjoying your summer! Manhattan has been experiencing mild weather this summer and everyone seems to be quite enjoying that. It has been great for outdoor weddings and events. We are all hoping that it continues into autumn. The K-State crowd is beginning to return for the start of the new term and all that it brings - sporting events, performing arts, and academic conferences - not that things were any too slow around here during the summer. It seems as though every year there is more to do, more to enjoy locally! The theme for this month's newsletter is food and drink. I am going to dedicate the newsletter to little Abbey who loved her snacks, though the recipes here are all for people-treats!
Persian Lime Pie
Made with large, dark green Persian limes, this delicious, cheese-cake like pie is perfect for entertaining because it can be made ahead of time and is easy to serve. We've been eating them all summer!  Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

Blueberry Mint Iced Tea

This refreshing iced tea is made using fresh mint leaves, blueberries and black tea. Make ahead of time to enjoy with company! Here is the recipe. Enjoy!

Banana Chocolate Crumb Cheesecake

This light banana cheesecake, patted with dark chocolate cookie crumbs, is delicious served with bananas, fresh strawberries and whipped cream. It is definitely one of our favorite cheesecakes here at The Morning
Star! Here is the recipe. Enjoy!
Have a great August!

Sincerely,

Laurie Pieper

Welcome, Radina's Bakehouse
We, at The Morning Star, would like to welcome Radina's Bakehouse to the downtown neighborhood! Yum, fresh baked breads, Annette's chocolates, smoothies, salads and, of course, coffee - and more!
Downtown Manhattan's
Dining Renaissance

Over the past couple of years, but especially this past year, the downtown dining scene has really been reinvigorated. Now there is a plethora of choices for where our guests can go out to eat or for cocktails and appetizers - and be within walking distance! Isn't that neat?!
