Welcome to
The Morning Star Update!

We had a wonderful holiday season shared with family and dear friends. With the close of one year and the start of another, we at The Morning Star  would like to thank all of our guests and friends who made 2013 such a great year! Now the new year is upon us with hopes and wishes for good things ahead. Wishing you the very best in 2014 ...
Limoncello &
Limoncello Sorbet

This year, I served an Italian-themed Christmas dinner including a Limoncello Sorbet palate cleanser between the antipasti and the risotto and Four Citrus Limoncello for an after-dinner drink. They were big hits, so I thought that I would share the recipes.
The sorbet is very icy in consistency, but quickly melts into a slushy drink to be sipped rather than eaten. Note, this recipe needs to be made a day or two ahead of serving. View sorbet recipe.
Homemade or store-bought Limoncello can be used in the sorbet. There are quite a few recipes out there for Limoncello. The recipe that I made for Christmas takes three to four days. Some recipes take several months. Salute!

French-style Bittersweet Hot Chocolate

This is my favorite beverage for cool weather, and boy has it been cold this winter.  This thick and rich hot chocolate is made with only three ingredients: real bittersweet chocolate, water and milk ... well plus a cinnamon stick for garnish! Yum! View recipe.
As always, thank you for reading The Morning Star Update! I hope that you 2014 is a wonderful year for you!

Sincerely,

Laurie Pieper
