PNWA NEWS:

May Member Workshop and Meeting

Thursday, May 10, 2012 @ 7:00pm
Chinook Middle School
2001 98th Ave NE
Bellevue, WA 98004

Speaker: Brandon LaFave, literary agent at Andrea Hurst Literary Management
Topic: Why Manuscripts Get Rejected (and what an author can do to stay out of the slush pile)

No one likes rejection; it's especially difficult to take when it involves something as personal as writing. But with publishers being more selective than ever, rejection is becoming more common. In this workshop, Literary Scout Brandon LaFave discusses what rejection really means and demystifies the submission process for authors. He'll also cover what agents look for, why they reject manuscripts, and what authors can do about it. Attendees will leave the session with simple tools they can use to help enhance their own manuscripts and increase their chances of publication.
