MEMBER NEWS:
PNWA member Judi Blaze announces the release of her short story collection, Normal People Are Those We Don't Know Well, from Black Rose Books. Most people have a fascination with reading about the lives of others-especially quirky, often unhinged individuals who live in a world of their own. The stories in Normal People Are Those We Don't Know Well allow the reader to see how peculiar others can be, and how we are not so different.
The stories chronicle the lives of quirky, often unhinged characters which show us that despite how peculiar we think others may be, they really are not so different; some involve love and loss, while others are humorous, poignant and endearing. The book is available through Amazon and Black Rose Books.

PNWA member Penn Wallace announces that his first book, Blue Water & Me, will be published by Aberdeen Bay Press in the spring of 2012.
Blue Water & Me is a high-adventure true story of author Penn Wallace's magical first summer fishing with his father, Blue Water Charlie, at age eleven. The pair begin their adventure by ramming a thirty-thousand ton Japanese freighter. Licking their wounds, they cruise the coast of Mexico. Charlie regales Penn with old-time fish stories. Penn learns the story of how Charlie became a fisherman, with a little help from Bogey and the Duke. Penn hears about the death of the albacore industry, the political maneuvering and murder that followed in its wake. Penn swims with dolphins and explores desert islands. As the summer passes, Penn's undying belief in Papa's ability to handle any situation slowly erodes as he sees his father's feet of clay for the first time. Finally, they get caught in an out of season hurricane. They fight for their lives in hundred mile an hour winds and thirty foot waves.
Blue Water & Me is a story of father-son bonding that every father and son, and anyone who knows a father or son, should read. It should be on the bookshelves in time for Father's Day and will make an incredible Father's Day gift. http://pennwallace.com

PNWA member Jo Marshall's exciting press release about her Twig Stories series is now up at WebWire's site:
Researchers, wildlife experts, and educators across North America recommend a new book series called Twig Stories. Presented as "a journey into climate crisis," the novels attract young, disaffected gamers and junior scientists alike. Set in the Pacific Northwest, stick creatures called Twigs battle a changing climate wreaking havoc on their old growth forest. Dr. Diana Six, an ecosystems professor with the University of Montana, emphasizes the series' influence: "As a child, it was just such books that helped instill within me a desire to understand nature, and ultimately, to work in conservation."
