PNWA's MONTHLY MEETING WILL RESUME.
September 17th.
Two topics will be discussed. 
  1. The importance of a synopsis as a tool for promoting your book. 
  2. How authors get paid for blogging and online articles. 
 
2009 PNWA FALL WORKSHOPS:

Megan Chance
Megan Chance will teach a six-week course for PNWA. This course is designed for those who have written a novel or a partial novel, and cannot seem to get to the next step. This course begins the week of October 12th
 
Robert Dugoni
Bob Dugoni will teach a one day seminar on how to write a New York Times Best Selling Novel. Storytelling Techniques to increase your chances of publication and bring your writing to life. This seminar will be held on Saturday, November 7th
 
Details regarding the cost of the PNWA's fall workshop series and how to register will be available in Mid-September.


POPULAR FICTION COURSE:

Pam Binder
Pam Binder, president of PNWA, will teach a Popular Fiction I, year long series, through the UW Extension Writer's certificate Program. A percentage of her salary will be donated to PNWA's Bob Dugoni Scholarship Fund. The series begins September 30th.  Please contact Tony English if you have questions:   [email protected].

PNWA 2010 Literary Contest:

It's your chance to shine. Every writer knows there comes a time to send their work out into the world. Don't miss this opportunity to put your work to the test and compete with some of the best at the Annual PNWA Literary Contest. Sayulita Writers Workshops
The Sayulita Writers Workshops offers aspiring and professional writers and writing teachers an opportunity to experience Mexico in a relaxed, welcoming setting: a small, colorful, and lively beachfront town with an eclectic population mix of Mexicans and expat Americans and Europeans. The eclectic program features classes ranging from your fundamental, "How to Write a Novel," (taught by best-selling novelist Jennifer Belle) to "The Art and Soul of Food Writing," (taught by author-chef-blogger Becky Selengut) and everything in between. Both aspiring and already successful writers will find something of interest to study - and what a great place to hang out and write between classes!

UW EXTENSION WRITERS' CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS NOW ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS
The University of Washington Extension 2009-10 Writers' Certificate Programs are now accepting registrations.   All programs, taught by published authors, are designed to help you gain skills and make progress on your own writing.  Most programs begin in later September or early October 2009; others begin in Winter 2009.  Evening writers' programs are offered on the University of Washington main campus, in downtown Seattle, and in Bellevue.

Do you have a story, article or memoir waiting to be born?
Writers' Certificate Programs at UW Extension have helped hundreds of writers craft popular and literary fiction, memoirs, children's literature, and nonfiction works. Many writers who participated in these programs have established themselves as professionals with published works to their credit. Each program is designed with the adult learner in mind, which allows students to collaborate with fellow writers in developing their writing abilities. Courses in all programs are taught by published authors, and most programs feature notable guest speakers.

All programs build creative and technical skills. The following certificate programs are open admission, meaning you simply register for the first-term course:

Events/Speakers:

2009 Southern Oregon Book and Author Fair
Northwest authors interested in participating in the 2009 Southern Oregon Book and Author Fair on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Ashland Springs Hotel in Ashland, Oregon can email [email protected] for additional information.

The author registration fee is $25 for half of the space at a six-foot-long table. Both fiction and nonfiction authors are welcome. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.  

This annual event has become a regional favorite, bringing readers and authors together. Authors will be on-hand selling and autographing their books throughout the day. A special fair-discounted room rate has been arranged for a limited number of hotel rooms at the Ashland Springs Hotel for authors who may be driving long distances


September meeting of Seattle Free Lances:
Scott Driscoll, University of Washington literary writing instructor and free lance writer, will be the main speaker at the Seattle Free Lances meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Lake City Elks Lodge, 14540 Lake City Way NE, Shoreline.  A social hour will begin at 5:15 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and the program at 7.  Reservations are required at least one week prior to the event.  For reservations, Email [email protected]

Author-Editor Clinic
Want to get your novel, memoir, or nonfiction manuscript in shape? The Seattle-based Author-Editor Clinic has been helping authors revise and polish their books-in-progress since 2004. One reasonable rate is charged for a complete read and thorough editorial critique that will cover topics such as structure, plot, characters, voice, timelines, and narrative pacing. Our Fall session will take place October 1 - November 12, 2009.
