APC June Meeting - Not Much Happening

The Area Planning Commission had no agenda items for the June meeting, but several matters came up for discussion.
Executive Director Cindy Orschell reported that she received a complaint from a resident in Highland Township near Horseshoe Bend Road. The results of a recent survey indicated that a neighbor's building was only four feet from the common property line, well short of the required setback. After looking at assessment records and the GIS map, board members surmised that the neighbors might have built an addition onto an existing building in 2013-2014 without a permit. If that is the case, they will need to apply for a building permit and a variance. Ms. Orschell will look into it further. The names of the two parties were not provided.
Ms. Orschell informed the APC that budgets are due on June 20. She is asking for pay increases for APC employees. She said there has not been a pay increase for five years. APC Attorney Tammy Davis began working with the APC in 2007, and as far as Ms. Orschell knows, Ms. Davis has never had a raise. Ms. Orschell also plans to submit a request for increased funds for office supplies. She has not yet completed the budget, but will email it to the APC members when it is finished.
APC members have been working on a zoning code amendment concerning swimming pool regulations for several months. They spent some time "cleaning up the language," and the finalized version will be advertised for a public meeting in July. Several other amendments were sent to the commissioners last month. The commissioners approved all of them without changes. The amendments will now go to the towns for approval.

The next APC meeting is July 13 at 7PM.
