President's Message
Marci Revelle
Greetings and Happy Spring Republicans!
As we thaw out from the record breaking cold, what a great time to get out and support your local candidates! Our Primary is quickly approaching and many races are looking to be very close. The Williamson County Republican Women, per TFRW Bylaws, do not endorse any single candidate in the primary. But we can certainly encourage you to get out and support those Republican Candidates you feel deserve your vote! Your actions now can and will make a difference!
To help you find ways to get involved or education opportunities, we have started "tweeting!" Please find us @wilcorw on Twitter. We will tweet events we think you may want to know about as well as try to re-tweet your events as we see them in our feed. Feel free to tag us in your tweets as well. We are still on Facebook and of course our website remains a great resource. Our goal is to provide information, opportunities, and resources to help you get involved in the process of electing and supporting Republican leaders in Williamson County.
It is my honor to serve as President of Williamson County Republican Women. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Marci Revelle
President

Legislative Update
By
Cari Christman Texas Women's Health Initiatives On February 20th, Chairwoman Jane Nelson (R - Flower Mound) of the Senate Health and Human Services held an interim hearing to examine state programs giving women access to health care. "The Legislature prioritized women's health and mental health this session, demonstrating our strong commitment to women and to individuals battling mental illness," said chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, Senator Jane Nelson. "Through these interim studies we will ensure that Texas women have access to cancer screenings, wellness exams and other preventive health services - and that our mental health programs are achieving positive outcomes." The Committee's interim assignment to study women's health in Texas was initiated by Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst. As the presiding officer of the senate, Lt. Governor Dewhurst has announced numerous studies to be conducted by each standing Senate Committee throughout the 2013-2014 interum in an effort to prepare legislators for the 84th Legislature, beginning January 2015. The following description provides a snapshot of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee's charge. Women's Health - Build on previous legislatuve achievements in women's healthcare by examining women's access to preventative health care, pregnancy services, and postpartum care, and exploring ways to expand access and improve quality, particularly in rural and underserved areas of the state. Monitor the implementation of women's health programs in Texas. Assess these programs' impact on outcomes such as improving access to preventative services, reducing unplanned pregnancies, and achieving cost savings. Recommend ways to better coordinate the various programs in a manner that increases the number of women served, ensures adequate provider capacity statewide, and maximizes efficiencies to the state.
