Dear Friends,

Welcome to the April issue of Irbit Informer!

We have been waiting a bit longer than usual for spring to come this year and it seems (!) that it's finally here. :-)

How do we know? Well, one naughty Easter Bunny made sure to let everyone know the Ural Spring riding

season was now open. If you haven't seen it on the news, be sure to check it out.

PS: we want to thank our friends in San Diego BMW & Ural for providing us with some free national television PR.

Spring at the factory in Irbit was tough and slow coming, too. It still snowed all the way into April as recently

as just last week. Sounds familiar, anyone???

The snow icky weather didn't stop our dealer and a long time friend and supporter Dell Zehm of St. Croix H-D & Ural

to travel all the way from Minneapolis to Irbit this past March.

Dell has been a Ural dealer since the early '90's - and he finally did what he wanted to do for a long time -

visit Russia and the factory. "What  I found refreshing at the factory and what I got to see of Russia within

that short week'', says Dell, "is that no one is worried about being politically correct, people are straightforward,

they just say it how it is."

Well, we are at Ural in Redmond are pretty straightforward too, so if you are in the area

and you've been thinking about buying a Ural - go see Dell. He is one of the most knowledgeable dealers out there,

a huge enthusiast and is just a good guy to deal with. Check out a one of a kind Ural Taimyr he's got in stock, too.

Well, now onto some business news to share with you -  US retail sales result for Q1 are in and we are 11% up

from last year  for the same period! We continue to grow and it's exciting! We want to thank all of you for your

enthusiasm and support to make this happen.  Welcome to the family!

Now, those of you who are still thinking and maybe already saving up for a new Ural, here's a bit of help from us.

We are offering a limited time special retail financing rates. See details below.

We will also share some shortcuts on where to find good deals and unique bikes, so read on. :-)

Factory is running at full speed. Ilya (the Boss) and our purchasing crew continue relentlessly on outsourcing
more parts to ensure our vendors supply consistent quality products in a timely manner.

If you only knew what we have to go through to make this happen... for example, Ilya's lunch ( top center) this week in Taipei:

PS: disclaimer - he actually picked it voluntarily and quite enjoyed it. :-)

Worldwide sales activity is quite good, Canada is on fire, Australia doing very well, Japan is getting fresh shipment
next month, Europe has suffered from this long winter but Hari and Birgit our European Distributor are kicking butt (for new readers, remember, we are not very pc here) and moving things right along.

Stateside we've got two more good new dealers in Idaho and Oklahoma this month - the two markets we've been
missing out on. See their locations below, give them a call or just drop in.

The last, but not the least. We are finally re-launching our Emissary program. Many of you have been doing it for years,
so now that we have new brochures, we want to set you up with some good tools to help with the UDF and to spread
the word around.

Please send us your feedback, stories, pictures and videos. We really  like to hear from you, it's what makes

our small Ural crew in Redmond and in Irbit going every day... and every night. :-)

The Ural Emissary Program is Live!

Yes! After all your requests-and a lot of work-the emissary program is ready! The idea is simple, as

some of you already know. You sign-up, we send you stickers for your Ural, business cards and

brochures, and you carry on as normal. Only now, when you experience UDF you can hand that person

a brochure and business card and carry on about your business!

We're incredibly excited about the potential of this program, and we can't wait to work with all of you

on it! So click the image above or go here!

News From Down Under

In 2010 a group of Russian Ural enthusiasts went to Australia and rode some Urals from Townsville in

the North right down the East coast to Melbourne on the South coast. They enjoyed the ride and heard

stories about the great Australian "Outback".

In June of this year most of the same group plus a few extra members are returning to take a ride on
the wild side to the Aussie heartland.  They will hire their Urals from Ural Australia and during a two
week ride they will make their way along dirt and sand tracks over nearly 4,000 kms of remote country.

They will be accompanied and guided by Jon Taylor from Ural Australia and several Aussie Ural owners
keen to enjoy the adventure. Bush camping will be necessary on many of the nights and the group will
see some of Australias great inland rivers, cattle stations, old mining towns, sandhills and outback pubs.
The start and finish will be from the small village of Kentucky in Northern NSW where Ural Australia is
based.

We'll do out best to take a lot of photos, so stay tuned and many adventures to all the "Informer" readers!

In the meantime, enjoy some pix with the sidecar on the wrong side :-)

Oh Canada-News from the north

We promise - this is the only snow picture in this spring issue. Only because it comes from Canada! :-)

Up north, the crew at Ural Canada are anxiously waiting for warm spring weather, although dealers

across the country have been already pretty hot, seeing the strongest sales on record in the last 3

years. The Yamals are sold out, 2WD models sales naturally are leading in the mix and the sales

of red Tourists have spiked thanks in part to our friends from the American chain store that has come

to Canada. "They sure hit a bull's eye with their ad that shows a red Tourist with a young lady and here

dog riding through some beautiful Canadian scenery. This is the best Ural TV commercial we've seen

that doesn't say Ural once,"- says Mike Matthews of Ural Canada.

Redleg Rides to Alaska!

Some days you check your email and its just one of those days, other days you check it and you get a

special email from someone like Dom aka Redleg. Dom has been a huge contributor of the Ural riding

experience. He takes photos, writes articles, and often makes our job easier. Well right now Dom is

riding from his home state of Colorado to Alaska. He's already hit some very scenic spots and

even did swing by IMWA HQ in Redmond, WA.

Be sure to check his page and our blog often as his trip has really only begun.

Why is it some of the best Ural blogs come from Colorado? Must be something about that state that Urals

love. Check out some more great photos and writing (or is it riding?) from Dan here.

Ever Wonder What It's Like To Ride A Ural?

Two talented guys asked us for a bike, they told us they wanted to produce a short film for us. We

had no idea what to expect other than they were enthusiastic, and came with a pretty cool portfolio.

We haven't seen a better video yet that translates the joy of riding a Ural from a personal experience

into one anyone can-hopefully-understand.

Ural Events Calendar

Did you know we maintain an event calendar on our website? We do our best to add events we discover or ones

that are submitted to us. Keep checking in, as well, so you don't miss some unique opportunities like this one:

BBQ Ribs at Triquest in Santa Clara, CA with a very special guest speaker - our good friend and tireless

adventurer Hubert Kriegel. We are very happy to see Hubert's health is improving at a good pace and we want to thank

Ski and Sammy of Triquest Motorcycles and Sidecars for putting together a nice get-together on a pretty short notice! :-)

There are two notable events in April and May that we thought we should mention.

1) The Annual Vintage Sidecar Rendezvous in Paso Robles is happening on April 27th.

    Check out more info here!

2) 7th Annual Carolina Rally and Potluck this year is May 3-5.  The location will be at the Ole Gillim Mill in Sanford, NC, http://olegilliammill.org/Home_Page.html

3) The Overland Expo happens this year over the weekend of May 17-19. We're lending the crew at

Overland Journal a Gear-Up for long-term testing, and this bike will be on display at this year's event.

    See you there!

Check the calendar for a complete list of rallies, parties, and summer sidecar celebrations!

And if you know of a sidecar-centric event, or simply one where a Ural would be welcome, let us know

and we'll add it to the calendar!

Miles Holden-Story of a Would-be Ural Racer

A few months ago we received an awesome email from a guy named Miles who wanted to tell us his

story and his endeavor to build a modern Ural into a vintage rules race bike. Miles has been sending

us chapters and we publish them on our blog. The reactions and enthusiasm from the community has

been overwhelming.

Right now Miles is working on his race fairing and wants your vote! So if you haven't yet voted on which

fairing you like more, click picture or this link to share your opinion.
