Relevant case-studies, trade articles, and other media are shared and discussed in every class, and the chapter decks this instructor spends a great deal of time making each week help students grasp the most important parts of marketing and advertising.
Her passion and commitment this year to the Sarah Ramsey '12 Strong Fund has been inspiring and has truly demonstrated the personal relationships she has made with her students, past and present.
2014-15 Elizabeth A. Durick Staff Service Award Winner: Associate Director of Campus Public Safety, Carl Riden
The Elizabeth A. Durick Staff Service Award was established in 1996 and is intended to recognize a member of the staff who has had a positive impact on the College community. This annual award is named in honor of the late Elizabeth Durick, who was an exemplary staff member and who also served on the College's Board of Trustees.
This prestigious honor, offers the opportunity to recognize some of Champlain's "unsung heroes." This year's recipient is someone who displays an unwavering commitment to the College community. Carl Riden is described as quiet and behind the scenes, even somewhat mysterious to the entire Champlain community, but always responsive and helpful on the other end of an email or phone call. Carl's responses are immediate, helpful, and he seems to never run out of patience with us all.
Carl's campus-wide emails have built a fan-base and a real active audience. They always include jokes and photos and have the uncanny ability to make stressed out students, staff and faculty, alike laugh. He makes Champlain College a better place to work and is truly an unsung hero.
Tasked with the thankless job of enforcing new parking restrictions and rules, tasked with reminding us every semester when we can buy our parking passes and then dealing with us when we forget, and then responding to every complaint (which seem to be endless) about parking on campus, he is there.
Due to the nature of Carl's work, he has been placed in the Champlain Relocation Program and is unable to be photographed at this time.
Carl sent this photo along to let us know how he keeps busy in the off season of ticketing!
You have to love that sense of humor.
Congratulations to all the recipients.
