Champlain College Featured in The Atlantic as an 'Ideal College'
In October, The Atlantic magazine featured Champlain as a model for what an ideal college would look like. Writer and higher education expert John Tierney highlighted Champlain College as an institution that exceeds all expectations.
Tierney presents his vision of an ideal college as a place where "students would acquire training that makes them immediately employable. They'd take courses in the liberal arts that would sharpen their skills in writing, analysis, and reasoning. And they'd graduate with some real-life knowledge, such as how to interview for a job. There'd be no tenure for faculty, but instructors would be made to feel they're valued members of the enterprise. And administrators would constantly ask themselves 'how can we prepare students for what the world needs of them?'" He goes on to say that Champlain meets every aspect of this ideal vision and, in the process, is gaining the attention of the higher-ed world.
We always knew Champlain was a gem, so we are especially proud to share this article with you!

Greetings From Our Student Callers
Holly '14
Hometown: Guilford, CT
Major: Elementary Education
"I can't imagine where I would be if it weren't for the support of our alumni community - thanks to their generosity I am able to spend my senior year student teaching and not constantly worrying about graduating with a huge amount of debt. When I become an alumna in May, I pledge to continue the important tradition of giving back to the place that has given students like me so much."
Our student callers couldn't reach you or you didn't have enough time to chat? That's OK, you can make your gift online today. On behalf of our student callers, who feel the impact of your support each and every day, THANK YOU!

Help Champlain College's Center for Financial Literacy win a 'Build a Stronger VT' Grant!
Champlain College's Center for Financial Literacy (CFL) is a finalist in the Key Bank 'Build a Stronger Vermont' grant competition.
By voting, you can help the CFL bring Awesome Island to more than 16,000 students across Vermont.
The CFL serves Vermont teachers and students in grades K-12. The CFL is working to increase personal finance education in Vermont schools through teacher training programs and the use of a fun, dynamic, award-winning game that the entire classroom can play together.
The Awesome Island game was developed by educators to teach students about credit and debt, budgeting, careers and income, taxes, saving and investing, philanthropy, and insurance.
If we win the $25,000 grant, we can give 16,000 students across VT the opportunity to play Awesome Island each academic year.
Vote online via Facebook, in person at any Key Bank office, or via the printed ballot in the Burlington Free Press. You can vote today through Dec. 6, 2013 at 11:59:59 p.m.
Note: You must be a Vermont resident to vote.
