The 2016 summer schedule for the Spring Lake Recreation Commission is now available. There are many opportunities for students to participate in a wide range of activities. Note that all students residing in Spring Lake Township pay the resident rate, regardless of their school district.

The next Burn Day in the Township is May 21. Only brush may be burned. There is no leaf burning allowed, and no burning may take place within 1400 feet of the City of Ferrysburg or the Village of Spring Lake. A permit is required, and the Fire Department must be called the morning of Burn Day to notify them of your intent to burn. Remaining Burn Days for 2016 are July 16, September 17 and November 19.

Oak wilt is a fungal disease which can rapidly kill an oak tree, as well as other oak trees with roots that are connected to the infected tree. Oak wilt is spread by a beetle which transfers fungal spores from an infected tree to another tree. To protect oak trees, do not prune them between April 15 and July 15. If a tree is damaged, immediately apply pruning sealer to the wound. Avoid moving firewood from infected trees to prevent the spread of the fungus.
