Solicitor Regulation in Spring Lake Twp In September, 2013, Spring Lake Township adopted an ordinance regulating door-to-door solicitation in the Township. Solicitors are now required to register with the Township before selling. However, persons age 18 or younger that are soliciting for the benefit of a school or youth activity are not required to register. All solicitors, including young persons, are required to solicit only between 11am and one hour before sunset, but not later than 9pm. Additionally, solicitors are required to have Township-issued ID cards displayed on a lanyard. A sample ID is shown. If you are being bothered by a solicitor, or if a solicitor approaches you and is not wearing an ID card, call the Ottawa County Sheriff's non-emergency number: 800-249-0911.
