Spring Cleanup

It's that time of year again - time to take pride in your property by doing some property maintenance. Maybe this means a protective coat of paint on the home, or removing some debris from the yard. It's important to all of us in the Township that we each keep our property looking nice. To help with that goal, the Township has several ordinances related to property maintenance and parking.

Article III Section 14 of the Township Code of Ordinances states that materials and debris must be properly disposed of. Inoperable vehicles must be stored inside, and only one unlicensed vehicle may be stored behind the home.

Property Maintenance - The property maintenance code requires that buildings are to be maintained with a protective coating (such as paint or siding), and lawns must be mowed.

Recreational Vehicles - Vehicles such as campers, trailers and motor homes may be parked or stored between a street and the home during the months of April through October, but they must be at least 25 feet from the right of way and 35 feet from the edge of the road. Recreational vehicles may be parked anywhere on a lot for up to 14 days during a calendar year as long as they do not create a traffic safety issue. Parking must be on an improved surface.

Marine and summer-use recreational vehicles such as boats, watercraft, off road motor cycles, and all-terrain vehicles may be parked or stored between a street and home during the months of April through October. They must be 4 feet from the property line, 25 feet from the right of way and 35 feet from the edge of the road.

Thanks for helping us maintain a high quality and high value community.

Enhanced 911

Ottawa County Central Dispatch is participating in the Smart911 program, a free service that allows residents to create a safety profile for their household that includes any information they want responders to have in the event of an emergency. This program allows residents to register all telephones, including cell phones, so that when an emergency call is made from the phone, the profile is immediately displayed. Profile information can include address, location access, hidden key locations, emergency contact information, and information about special needs of residents.

If you have questions, contact Ottawa County Central Dispatch at 616-994-7800.
