Little Black Lake Property Acquisition
Spring Lake Township was awarded $94,900 from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund to acquire an undeveloped 30-acre parcel along the east side of Little Black Lake. The parcel has approximately 650 feet of frontage on the lake.
Spring Lake Township collaborated with the City of Norton Shores on the application, as Norton Shores was also awarded a grant of $146,800 to purchase 12 acres of land adjacent and north of the parcel the Township will acquire. The property being acquired by Norton Shores is south of an existing city park. The two parcels being acquired will mean that almost the entire eastern shoreline of Little Black Lake will be protected from development to preserve quality habitat.
Spring Lake Township and the City of Norton Shores will work together to develop a joint park plan for the site that will include passive recreational uses such as trails, fishing docks, and a non-motorized boat launch facility.

Thermostat information
Many homeowners have programmable thermostats. Did you know the thermostats have batteries? Did you also know that if the batteries in your thermostat go bad the thermostat will not run, which means your furnace will not run?
If you are away for an extended time in the winter, be sure to check your thermostat batteries before you leave. If the thermostat fails, you risk frozen pipes, which could cause major damage to your house before you return.
