Cleaning wipes clogging sewers
With changes in cleaning products, our DPW workers are seeing more problems with the wipes clogging pumps and pipes. While the wipes flush easily, they don't flow easily through the pipes, and they frequently wrap around pump parts, requiring maintenance. Help keep our sewers flowing smoothly - don't flush cleaning wipes, baby wipes, or other products - just flush toilet paper. This problem is occurring around the country - a news story in Minnesota also addressed this problem, and there was an article in USA Today.

Anglers beware - invasive crayfish being used as bait in Michigan
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has discovered that anglers are purchasing red swamp crayfish from food markets and using them as bait. These crayfish are considered an invasive species in Michigan. The DNR reminds anglers to be cautious when considering bait options and to not purchase red swamp crayfish. Help protect Michigan waters and help prevent this species from becoming established in Michigan.
