The Little Rock Planning Commission is set to vote on a planned development for a Mapco convenience store on Third Street between State and Izard Streets this Thursday, January 24 at 4:00 p.m. in the board chambers of City Hall at 500 West Markham Street. Read the full staff report here.
The Little Rock Planning staff has recommended denial of this request. The QQA, along with several other organizations, businesses and residents are opposed to this development and support staff's recommendation. We believe the proposed development could have a long-term negative impact on the surrounding historic area, particularly the White-Baucum House at 2nd and Izard Streets. Read the QQA's statement here.
Please support the QQA's position by attending the meeting or contacting Donna James, Subdivision Administrator, at djames@littlerock.org.
The Quapaw Quarter Association's mission is to promote the preservation of Little Rock's architectural heritage through advocacy, marketing and education.
Incorporated in 1968, the QQA grew out of an effort to identify and protect significant historic structures in Little Rock during the urban renewal projects of the early 1960s. Throughout its existence, the QQA has been a driving force behind historic preservation in Greater Little Rock.
