| |
The May 7th print edition of the River Falls Journal featured a full page article on the work of current SCVRJP executive director.
The Journal has always been a great partner to SCVRJP, featuring several stories since the Restorative Justice Center opened in 2006.
Special thanks to editor and reports!

Delivering messages of hope and prevention!
|
Our team was busy in April! SCVRJP reached an average of 190 people/per month, in the first 3 months of the year.
In April we reach 2,166! Presentations were made to UWRF Greek Students during Greek Week activities. Our Executive Director Kris Miner, and Outreach Coordinator Holly Mitchell shared messages encouraging students to reduce risks related to alcohol and substances. Other events are featured below! |
Hudson High School Mock Crash. The days events were many, SCVRJP provided a speaker that related her story to the students. The impact of choices and consequences were deeply felt, when volunteer Pam Remer shared her family being impacted when Brianna died, and alcohol, cell phone use, speeding and not wearing her seatbelt all contributed to her tragic death. The story was not lost on the students. One staff said "she got 480 freshman to all listen, she's amazing".
The students were offered the chance to thank Pam for sharing. Many did, she hugged nearly every student after two presenations. Thank you to Pam and her family, who share her with us, so she can save a life!

Crime Victims Rights Week
|
For the 3rd year in a row, speakers from SCVRJP share thier stories for Crime Victims Rights Week. The nationally sponsored week, highlights the impact of crime, on victims and promotes the recognition and implementation of supportive engagement in the criminal justice system.
Correctional facilities often hold special events, providing inmates opportunities for learning from crime survivors. SCVRJP volunteers Jim Ross, Robyn Langkos and Noreen Diess provide stories of thier expereinces. In the photo below, Paige, Noreen, Robyn and Liana. Second row Jim, Kris & Holly.
The facility staff is a graduate of UWRF, and a past student in Kris Miner's Restorative Justice Class. Paige Paulson prepared the inmates, prior to the visit, by having them make posters around the Crime Victims Rights Week theme. A few weeks after the presentation, to over 100 inmates, Paige delivered the posters, and four binders of thank you messages, written by the inmates. The cover of each binder includes a personalized drawing, around the theme of each speakers story. Paige and volunteer coordinator Shana are pictured. |
