4th Annual

In 2009-2010, our community experienced a number of suicides, the River Falls Police Department spearheaded a community forum.  SCVRJP offered talking Circles, Restorative Response began.

After working with survivors of traffic deaths, and providing victim-offender dialogue in homicide cases, SCVRJP was prepared to help those with complex trauma from other un-natural death and loss.

Since the initial Circles to support survivors, SCVRJP has also provided the following:

  • Guide for Grieving Families - a booklet for law enforcement/first responders to provide families in the first 48 hours after the loss.  Copies are still available.  These have been distributed to local agencies, churches, support groups, funeral homes.
  • Death Notification Training for providers that have to address family members after a sudden traumatic loss.
  • Restorative Response Circle Series - meeting 6 weeks in a row, participants are provided support and a safe place to tell their stories.
  • Support Circles - for groups to discuss the impact, offer hope.  Teachers found this helpful when returning to school after the deaths of three students this summer.
  • One to one support - those who have experienced loss are able to come discuss their experience and needs.
  • Paths to Healing session exploring the role that storytelling holds in healing.
  • Walk for Awareness - remembering loved ones.  The Walk path is lined with posterboards, with photos selected and phrases written by family members.  If you would like to have your loved on remembers, there is no charge, we are happy to provide you this community event, and chance to be supported.  Click here for more on Memory Boards.
To continue our services, community support is needed.  Letters were sent to 800 individuals and businesses.

We need your support!  Please make a donation, register for the Walk or donate a raffle item (your business will be mentioned).

Registration/donation form, here (just print and mail)

Teen Driving Circles for Driver's Ed

Our Teen Driving Circles are being offered at Prescott High School as a part of their Driver's Education Program. Teens participate in Circles with one of our volunteer Circle Keeper Catherine and speaker Pam.

Here's what kids have been saying:

Traffic crashes are preventable.

"It was very good. It makes you think twice about the decisions you make behind the wheel."

"Life changing and

  emotional."

"I took it all to heart. It was a very sad story but eye opening. You won't want to drink and drive."

"I would say this was a life changing experience, and it showed that you need to be a safe driver."

"Very touching. It changed the way I think."

The Prescott Community Foundation recently awarded SCVRJP a grant for $2,000 to provide this program for local students.
