  • The Utah State University-organized 2014 Utah Sage-grouse Summit is held Feb. 18 and 19 in Salt Lake City with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert as opening speaker.

Call for Intern Posters

  • USU Extension interns are encouraged to present their research at the 2014 Extension Annual Conference held March 5 and 6 in Logan. Interns will display and discuss their research posters at the pre-conference in the Eccles Conference Center on March 4. Those interested in participating should complete the short poster presentation application via this link by Feb. 14. Contact Scott Boyer with questions.
Interactive Video Conference  

  • IVC Presentation - Tuesday, Feb. 18, 10 to 11 a.m. (Southern Region) and Thursday, Feb. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. (Northern Region). "Top 10 Controls: Internal Control Basics for Every Employee - Strong Ethical Values are Key," presented by Jodi Bailey, chief audit executive, USU Internal Audit Services. 

The IVC is co-sponsored by Epsilon Sigma Phi as a professional development opportunity for Extension employees. The presentation is designed to help improve skills in staying well within the university's code of conduct as USU faculty/professionals.

Save the Date

  • Live Well Utah night out is held Feb. 19 at the Conservation Garden Park in West Jordan and Feb. 20 at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, both from 7 to 9 p.m. Choose from four hands-on workshops about food, finances, gardening and family. Cost is $10 and preregistration is recommended. Click here to register.

  • The 2014 Urban and Small Farms Conference is held Feb. 19 and 20 at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens Visitor Center, 3900 N. Garden Drive in Lehi. An Organic Growing Workshop is featured the first day and breakout sessions the second day. Registration each day is $20 by February 12th and $30 per day after that. Click here to register.

  • A Beginning Farmer and Rancher workshop is held Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, St. George North-Zion, 2450 N. Town Center, in Washington, Utah. Cost is $25 and includes breaks, lunch and program materials. Click here to register.

  • USU Extension Annual Conference is held March 5-6 at the Eccles Conference Center on the USU Logan Campus. Registration is now open. Visit the Annual Conference website for the most current information. To see an updated agenda, click here. 

  • Applications are being accepted for the Western Extension Directors Association (WEDA) 2014 Awards of Excellence. Submit applications to Brian Higginbotham by March 7. Click here  for application information.
