Governor Proposes Aspen as the New State Tree
  • Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert recently announced his intentions to have the aspen named as the new state tree, and Jody Gale, Extension agent for Sevier County, gave a presentation on forestry and aspen issues and USU Extension's role in managing them on a briefing and issues tour. Interactive Video Conference
  • IVC Presentation - Tuesday, Oct. 29, 9 to 10 a.m. "New Haven Farms: Promoting Health and Community Development through Urban Agriculture," presented by Carrie M. Durward, Extension nutrition specialist and assistant professor. Combining nutrition education with gardening is an innovative way to promote vegetable intake. The presentation will explore this concept through the example of New Haven Farms, a nonprofit in New Haven, Conn.

Content Management System Demos
  • USU is in the process of choosing a system to replace ezPlug. The choice has been narrowed to two vendors. Please attend the demos presented by the vendors to help decide on the best solution for USU.

     

    You may attend in person in room 154 of the Library or virtually through Adobe Connect. Either way, please fill out the survey at the end of each demo. Each of these demo events will be recorded for viewing at a later date.

  • Explore the Garden Family Night: Pumpkinpalooza! Monday, Oct. 28, USU Botanical Center Varga Arboretum, 6 p.m. This evening is a family favorite as participants celebrate fall and Halloween. Events for kids range from a pumpkin walk, face painting, a grass garden labyrinth and a pumpkin launcher. Free apple cider will be offered as well as doughnuts and hot chocolate for the first 200 visitors. For more information, call 801-544-3089 or email the Botanical Center. 
  • USU Forestry Extension's Learn at Lunch October webinar: 

    Western Aspen Regeneration Ecology, Tuesday, Oct. 29, noon to 1 p.m.

    Speakers: James N. Long, Mary Lou Fairweather and Karen E. Mock.

    Discussion includes the changing view of regeneration ecology in western aspen, the findings underlying this changing view and the silvicultural implications. Also the traditional view of western aspen regeneration, field observations and genetic results that challenge some aspects of this view and the silvicultural implications for aspen regeneration and management in the western U.S.

  • Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for off-campus employees - Wednesday, October 30, from 9 to 10 a.m. through an Adobe Connect webcast. (Those on the Logan campus must attend a workshop in person.)  

  Those who participate in the webcast should test their computer/connection before   the training by clicking here. It can be done any time before October 30.
