USU Extension Assists in Revegetation of 
Emigration Canyon    
  • Utah State University Extension Master Gardeners directed approximately 125 volunteers and assisted in planting more than 500 native shrubs and trees at various sites through Emigration Canyon on Saturday, Sept. 21. Another 500 will be planted at the site in the near future. Click here to read the story.
USU Extension Welcomes Carrie Durward  
  • Carrie Durward was recently hired as Extension nutrition specialist and assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Sciences. She holds her doctorate in nutritional sciences from the Pennsylvania State University and her Bachelor of Science in human nutrition from Arizona State University. She recently completed her dietetic internship through Penn State and will sit for her registration examination in October.

     

    Carrie has expertise in obesity and health, weight loss and nutrition behavior change. Her research interests focus on the promotion of vegetable intake through comprehensive gardening, nutrition and cooking education interventions. Her responsibilities at USU are to develop and extend statewide outreach education on nutrition topics reflective of statewide needs and to conduct associated applied research in collaboration with Extension county faculty, USU faculty and others. 4-Her Wins First Place at Film Festival  
  • Washington County 4-Her Amanda Jones won first

    place in the Voices of 4-H History category at the National 4-H Film Festival held in Branson, Missouri, this past month. Click here to read the story.
