This Month at the Market

Sweet corn is one of the tastiest treats of summer. Delicious grilled sweet corn will be featured at the market August 8. Come try some and learn to do it yourself. You'll also want to try the fresh corn and radish salad from the USU Extension Food $ense folks and get the recipe (and 23 other recipes for fresh produce from the market) in the free Live Well Utah cookbook. That's right, a free cookbook. You may also want to enjoy some Aggie Ice Cream while you listen to local singer/songwriter Aimee Geddes. In the coming weeks market visitors will also enjoy the music of Cassie Lopez (Aug. 22) and Cori Connors (Aug. 29). See you at the market!

Composting Tips For Your Garden

Composting at home lets you recycle yard and kitchen waste and produces one of the best things you can add to your garden soil. It's also good for the environment because it keeps waste out of the landfill. This is the season of an abundance of lawn clippings, garden waste and kitchen scraps from cooking with lots of fruits and vegetables. That makes it a great time to start a compost bin.
