USATF Georgia is very excited to be hosting a talented field of Master Women Athletes at the Great Labor Day Mile on Monday, September 7, 2015.

World caliber athlete Kathy Martin, Northport

Now in her early 60's, she is still producing outstanding performances on an international stage.  Martin has been a USATF triple winner of their long distance, track & field and cross country master athlete of the year award.

Sonja Friend-Uhl, Brentwood, TN, has been a member of six U.S. world teams,
a 2000 Olympic Trials Competitor in the 1500m. She is the reigning World Record Holder in the Women's Masters Indoor Mile (4:44.8) and the American Record Holder in the Women's Masters 1500m (4:16.9), the Women's Masters Outdoor Mile (4:45.68), and the Women's Masters Indoor 3000m (9:48.23). Sonja is also the current National & World Masters Champion in the 800m, 1500m, & 5000m.

Sarah Allers, Columbia, SC, was born in Derby, England. Marriage brought her to Florida, where she attempted to qualify for the 1996 Olympic Trials held in Columbia, SC. Sarah finished the Rocket City Marathon in Hunstville, Alabama, in 2:51:23 but was shy qualifying for the Olympic Trials by 83 seconds.  Not giving up, Sarah traveled to Houston, Texas,  in January 1996 to compete for a second chance at the Olympic Trials, finishing with a qualifying 2:46:35. With PowerBar as her sponsor, Sarah placed 8th in the 1997 Women's National Marathon in Columbia. Today Sarah is a massage therapist, caring for the needs of recreational and competitive athletes. She continues to compete at various distances.

We invite our local master women to come out and join them!
